The Goa tourism industry seems to grow by leaps and bounds with every passing year. Even the off season monsoon months are slowly but steadily evolving into pretty popular times for visiting Goa. After all, Goa always has something or the other to offer its visitors, irrespective of the season or weather. Pristine palm fringed beaches, an electrifying nightlife, delectable culinary delights, lots of cheap booze, verdant jungles and valleys, enrapturing hill peaks, heady remnants of colonial Portuguese culture, and spectacular old churches, art galleries, and museums - the list of ingredients that go on to make Goa tourism a roaring success is simply endless. Take a look at just a handful of the most powerful forces fueling the tourism industry in Goa.

Goa Tourism - Religion
Yes, religion may not be the first thing to strike you when the Goa tourism is the subject of discussion. Still, the fact remains that Goa makes for a wonderful religious and spiritual destination for numerous tourists, especially visitors following the Christian faith. In other words, Goa is dotted with a plethora of very famous churches such as Church of St Anne, Basilica of Bom Jesus, and Se Cathedral. Almost every single church and cathedral in Goa also has a rich colourful tale of its own. For instance, the Se Cathedral is one of the biggest of the cathedrals in Asia. Similarly, the Basilica of Bom Jesus is famed for being a World Heritage Monument and has so far remained the final resting place for the mortal remains of the celebrated St Francis Xavier. Churches are not the only reason behind the popularity of religious Goa tourism. The destination is also home to a number of famous temples, revered highly Hindus. For instance, a couple of such well-known temples in Goa are Shri Mahalakshmi Temple and Sri Mangueshi Temple.
Natural Splendour of Goa Tourism
It’s tough to put into words the contribution of nature to Goa tourism. Blessed with an abundance of nature’s bounty by way of mesmerising waterfalls, huge tranquil lakes, restless tumbling streams, huge tracts of verdant plantations, lush wildlife sanctuaries and national parks … the list just goes on and on when it comes to singing the praises of nature’s benevolence on Goa. The state lies between the foothills of the Sahyadri Range on one end and the mighty Arabian Sea with its restless inviting bath warm waters on the other. If all this sounds exaggerated, explore the wonders of sylvan woodlands such as Dr Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary, Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary, Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary, and Mollem National Park. Still not convinced? Well, treat yourself to the stunning sights of the Kesarval Waterfall, Dudhsagar Waterfalls, and Arvalem Waterfall, with the Dudhsagar Waterfalls stealing the thunder. In fact, all this is just scratching the surface in terms of scenic wonders of Goa tourism. The destination, with its numerous captivating natural trails, is also a paradise for biking and walking enthusiasts. The so called off season time of monsoon months is especially well suited for experiencing nature’s beauty in Goa.
Goa Tourism - Beaches
Wondering, why so far there has been no mention of beaches, when these are an inseparable part of Goa Tourism. Well, this was to save the best for the last and also for the fact that no amount of words can ever do justice to the beaches in Goa. There is a beach for almost every taste and fancy. Whether it’s about adrenalin pumping water sports, people watching, seaside shacks, or lots of delightful seclusion - you get them all in Goa. As a thumb rule, the beaches in South Goa are quieter, while the North Goa ones fit the stereotypes of parties and loud music.
